Itinerary

Arrival:Arrival Day

When you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), a representative from Bundi Travel will meet you, and transfer you to a hotel in Arusha town. The hotel has everything you need for a comfortable stay, like nice rooms, hot water, friendly staff, a pool, and Wi-Fi. You’ll spend your first night there. If you arrive at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi, Kenya instead, we’ll pick you up and bring you to Moshi by shuttle bus. In the evening, there will be a meeting with the guides to help you get ready for the climb the next day.

Note: Check-in starts at 2:00 PM.

Meal Plan: Breakfast and Dinner included

Day 1:Tarangire National Park

After breakfast around 7:30 AM, your safari guide will meet you at the hotel and let the receptionist know he’s there. Once you’re ready, you’ll begin your journey to Tarangire National Park. By about 10:00 AM, you’ll be on your first game drive, exploring the park and enjoying the natural scenery.

Tarangire is home to a variety of wild animals like lions, giraffes, zebras, and buffalo. It is especially known for having many elephants, which often gather near the Tarangire River to drink and cool off. Because this is a natural wildlife area, sightings can’t be guaranteed, but your guide will do everything possible to help you spot the animals you hope to see.

During the day, you’ll stop for lunch before continuing the safari in the afternoon. In the evening, you’ll head to your lodge for dinner and some well-deserved rest after a full day of adventure in the park.

Day 2:Serengeti National Park

After breakfast early in the morning, you’ll begin your journey to Serengeti National Park, one of the most well-known wildlife parks in the world. Your safari adventure will take you through the eastern and southern parts of the park, where vast grasslands stretch across the landscape. These open areas offer a good chance of spotting cheetahs as they chase after antelopes in their natural habitat.

The Serengeti is one of Tanzania’s biggest national parks and is home to a wide variety of animals. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognized for its rich ecosystem, large animal populations, and the famous annual Great Migration. This park even served as inspiration for Disney’s “The Lion King,” though the real Serengeti is far more wild and breathtaking than any movie.

As the day winds down, you’ll be taken to your lodge for the night. Here, you’ll enjoy a relaxing dinner and have time to unwind and rest after your exciting day on safari.

Day 3:Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, your safari adventure begins with a drive to the central part of Serengeti National Park, known as Seronera. Your guide will focus on helping you spot the animals you’re most excited to see. Around midday, you’ll stop at the Serengeti Visitor Centre, where you’ll enjoy a packed lunch and learn more about the park’s wildlife and history. You might also spot some hyraxes nearby — small animals that are surprisingly close relatives of elephants.

The Serengeti is home to an incredible variety of animals, and you’ll likely encounter many of them throughout the day. Keep your eyes open for elephants, giraffes, lions, buffalo, hyenas, ostriches, leopards, cheetahs, and different types of antelope. The sheer number and diversity of animals in the open plains make for an unforgettable wildlife experience.

As the day winds down, you’ll head to your lodge for the evening. There, you’ll enjoy a relaxing dinner and have time to rest after a full day of exploring one of Africa’s most famous national parks.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Start your day with an early breakfast before heading out on a game drive through the eastern and southern parts of the park. These areas are mostly open grasslands, making it a good chance to spot cheetahs chasing antelopes.

In the evening, you’ll return to the lodge for dinner and some well-deserved rest.

Day 5:Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Start your day early to catch the animals that are most active in the morning. Breakfast will be packed for you to enjoy on the way. At 6:30 AM, you will leave the hotel and drive for about an hour to reach the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, entering the famous crater.

Ngorongoro is one of Tanzania’s best-known parks, known for having the highest number of different animals in a small area. Here, you can see many animals like buffalo, elephants, lions, wildebeests, zebras, hippos, and wild cats such as caracals and servals. If you’re lucky, you might spot a rare rhinoceros, which is becoming hard to find.

After lunch in a designated spot, the game drive will continue through the afternoon. Later in the evening, the safari ends, and you will head back to your hotel in Arusha to rest.

Dparture:Departure Day

You will rest at the hotel and then head to the airport when it’s time for your flight. If you like, you can choose to take an extra trip to Zanzibar instead.

This marks the end of your safari.

Meal Plan: Breakfast included

Note: Standard hotel check-out time is 11:00 AM. If your flight is later in the day and you require a late check-out, you can extend your stay for an additional cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need to arrange my own airport transfer?

No, you don’t have to. Bundi Travel will pick you up from the airport and transfer you to your designated hotel. Airport pick-up and drop-off are included in our safari packages. Group transfers can also be arranged upon request.

2. How much does a safari cost?

Safari prices in Tanzania vary depending on the number of people, the number of days, and your choice of accommodation (budget, mid-range, or luxury).

Our packages generally include:

  • Professional, English-speaking safari guide
  • Park entrance and conservation fees
  • New 4×4 Toyota Land Cruiser with a pop-up roof
  • Meals as per itinerary
  • Bottled drinking water
  • Government taxes
  • Transfers and hotel pick-up/drop-off

3. How many people can fit in a safari vehicle?

All our safari vehicles are 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers with pop-up roofs for optimal game viewing. We guarantee a window seat for every guest.

  • Standard vehicles seat 4 – 6 guests, plus the driver-guide.
  • Extended vehicles can accommodate up to 7 guests comfortably.

4. Are there tips or warnings for a Serengeti safari?

Choose an operator committed to responsible tourism. At Bundi Travel, our guides are trained in eco-friendly practices and conservation ethics. Our vehicles are modern and regularly serviced to minimize environmental impact.

5. What are the roads like on safari?

Safari roads can be rough, dusty, and bumpy—especially in remote areas and national parks. If you have back issues, consider bringing a back brace or cushion for extra comfort.

6. What about bathroom facilities in the bush?

Most parks have designated public restrooms. However, if you’re far from one, your guide will find a safe and private spot in nature. Don’t worry—our guides are understanding and experienced with such situations.

7. Can I walk around in the national parks?

Generally, no. For safety reasons, you must remain in the vehicle unless your guide explicitly allows it. Guided nature walks are available in certain parks such as Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.

8. How should I protect myself from the sun?

Tanzania is near the equator, and the sun can be intense. To stay safe:

  • Wear a hat and sunglasses
  • Apply high SPF sunscreen
  • Stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight for long periods

9. What happens if I get sick or injured on safari?

In case of a medical emergency, our team will arrange immediate assistance or evacuation to the nearest medical facility. We strongly recommend having valid travel and medical insurance.

10. What if I have special dietary requirements?

No problem! We cater to vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free diets, and food allergies. Please let us know in advance so we can prepare accordingly.

11. Will I encounter snakes or insects?

Insects and reptiles are part of the wild environment, but sightings are rare. In safari vehicles, they are not a concern. For walking safaris, wear boots, long sleeves, and trousers. Use insect repellent to protect against mosquitoes and flies.

12. Will it be dusty on safari?

Yes, especially during the dry season. Sunglasses, a hat, and a scarf or mask can help protect you from dust. Keep your electronics sealed or in protective cases. Our vehicles are equipped with AC if needed.

13. What does a typical safari day look like?

A typical day starts early with a morning game drive, followed by lunch and some rest, then an afternoon or sunset game drive. Each park offers a different experience, Serengeti offers vast savannahs and big cats, while Tarangire has elephants, baobabs, and seasonal river crossings.

14. Will animals roam near the lodges or camps?

Yes. Many camps and lodges are in wildlife areas. While sightings are exciting, always follow staff instructions and never walk alone at night. Remember, you’re in their territory—safety comes first.

15. Are drinks provided in the safari vehicle?

Yes! Bottled water is provided. Our safari vehicles are fitted with small fridges to keep drinks chilled. You may also bring your favorite soft drinks, beer, or refreshments.

16. What does “game drive” mean?

A game drive is an excursion in a 4×4 vehicle through national parks to observe and photograph wildlife in their natural habitat. It’s the highlight of the safari!

17. How far in advance should I book my safari?

We recommend booking at least 6 months in advance. For popular seasons, especially the Wildebeest Migration (June to October), book 10–12 months early to secure the best lodges and camps.

18. What travel documents do I need?

You’ll need:

  • A valid passport (at least 6 months beyond your travel dates)
  • A tourist visa for Tanzania (can be obtained online or upon arrival for many nationalities)
  • Travel and health insurance (strongly recommended)

19. What should I pack for a safari?

  • Light, neutral-colored clothing
  • A warm jacket for early mornings and evenings
  • Comfortable closed shoes
  • Sun hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
  • Binoculars and a camera
  • Personal medications and insect repellent
  • A power bank or extra batteries
